Mahānārāyaṇa ist ein Überbegriff für mehrere Upanishaden und wird dem Yajurveda zugeordnet
- das erste Kapitel des vedischen Taittiriya Aranyaka[1] wird mit diesem Namen bezeichnet. Heute existieren die zwei Versionen Dravida mit 64 Anuvakas sowie Andhra mit 80 Anuvakas.
- Eine andere Version der Mahanarayana - Upanishad wird mit dem Atharvaveda verbunden. Der Inhalt ist ähnlich und besteht aus 25 Kapiteln(25 khandas).
- Ein im Muktika - Kanon aufgeführter Text anderen Inhalt namens Tripadvibhuti[2] wird auch als Mahanarayana - Upanishad bezeichnet.
