Atharvaveda oder Ātharvāṅgirasa. Die Rishis Angiras und Atharvan bzw. die 2 Rishigruppen der Bhrigus und der Angirasas[1] haben nach der Überlieferung den größten Teil dieses Veda verfasst.
Das Shaunaka zufgeschriebene Caraṇavyuha zählt neun shakhas oder Schulen des Atharvaveda auf:
- paippalāda
- stauda
- mauda
- śaunakiya
- jājala
- jalada
- brahmavada
- devadarśa
- chāraṇavidyā
