Jetsün Taranatha (Tib.- Wyl. tA ra nA tha) oder Kunga Nyingpo (kun dga' snying po) war ein Meister der Jonang - Linie, der von 1575 bis 1635 [1] lebte. 1614 ging Taranatha in die Mongolei und gründete mehrere Kloster und starb vermutlich in Urga.
Taranatha war ein Schüler des indischen Meisters Buddhaguptanatha und hatte weitere Kontakte zu Je Draktopa, Yeshe Wangpo, Kunga Tashi und Jampa Lhundrup. Zudem war er ein Onkel des fünften Dalai Lama.
