Tantraloka

Das 'Tantrāloka'(Ausleuchtung der Tantras; Licht auf die Tantras) ist das Hauptwerk von Abhinavagupta, dem bekanntesten Meister des kashmirischen Shivaismusses. Aufgrund seiner Größe und seines Umfangs ist es eine wahre Enzyklopädie des nichtdualen Shivaismusses. Nach Madhusadhan Kaul bildet das Malinivijayottara - Tantra die Grundlage des Tantraloka.

Das Tantraloka ist ein unschätzbarer Text, der die Synthese der 64 monistischen Agamen oder Tantras in Form eines Dialoges zwischen Shiva in der Form von Bhairava und seiner göttlichen Begleiterin Parvati in der Form von Bhairavi sowie alle Schulen des kashmirischen Shivaismusses enthält.

Das Werk behandelt in über 37 Kapiteln sowohl die ritualistischen als auch die philosophischen Aspekte. Kapitel 29 ist gänzlich dem sogenannten 'kula-chakra' gewidmet - einer tantrischen Praxis, die eine ritualisierte sexuelle Aktivität für ganz fortgeschrittene Eingweihte(Viryas) einschließt, die auch auf einer anderen Ebene interpretierbar ist.
Abhinavagupta verfasste später auch eine komprimierte Version des Tantrāloka namens Tantrasara.
