Naropa (auch: Nāro oder Nārotapa, * 1016; † 1100) war ein tantrischer buddhistischer Meister und einer der 84 Mahasiddhas[1]. Er wurde nach glänzender Kindheit und Jugend Lehrer an der Nalanda - Universität. Seine Kenntnisse erhielt Naropa von seinem Lehrer Tilopa[2] (* 988; † 1069).
Im Westen ist Naropa durch seine 6 Yogas (tib. Chos drug) bekannt[3][4]
- tummo - innere Hitze
- gyulü - Illusionskörper ; (mahamaya)
- Ösel - Yoga des Klaren Lichts [5]; (abhasvara)
- milam - Traumyoga ; (svapnadarsana)
- Bardo ; (antarabhava)
- phowa - Bewusstseinsübertragung ; (samkranti)
