Das Manthanabhairavatantra ist ein langes Tantra, das zum Pascimamnaya[1](westliche Tradition) gehört.

Manthanabkairavatantra

Das Manthanabkairavatantra nennt sich selbst ' caturvimsatisahasra ' oder 'Buch mit 24,000 Versen. Das älteste zurückverfolgbare Manuskript wurde während der Herrschaft von Somesvara kopiert und ist etwa 1180 n.Chr. entstanden. Die jüngste Version wurde während der Herrschaft von Vira Vikrama Saha kopiert und datiert auf 1841 n.Chr.. Ein Manuskript eines Teils dieses Tantra in bengalischer Schrift ist im Besitz der ' Asiatic Society of Bengal'. Es ist eine Kopie eines Manuskripts eines Mönchs in Bodhagaya mit Datum 1641 n.Chr..

Der Text des Tantra ist in vier Abschnitte aufgeteilt, von den drei als khanda bzeichnet werden. Unter Bezugnahme auf die Beschreibungen in den Katalogen sind es nicht drei sondern vier.

Diese sind unten aufgeführt mit ihren ungefähren Länge:

  1. Yogakhanda 4,500 Verse
  2. Kumarikakhanda 6,000 Verse
  3. Siddhakhanda 2,900 Verse
  4. Navanityayagadhikara 4,300 Verse

Gesamt 17,700 Verse

Im Paratantra wird die MBT als die "mahamanthana-satkaka" bezeichnet, die mit "Grosse Manthana (bhairavatantra) übersetzt werden kann, bestehend aus einer Gruppe von sechs [tausend Versen]" [2]

Carcika

Das Tantra ist der Verehrung der Göttin Kubjika gewidmet, die hier mit Carcika identifiziert wird.

Obwohl sie ursprünglich eine indische Göttin war, wird Kubjika fast nur im Tal von Kathmandu verehrt, wo ihr Kult von den Newar - Eingeweihten seit Jahrhunderten peinlich genau geheim gehalten wurde.

Fast alle Manuskripte ihrer Tantras und die verwandte Literatur wurden dort gefunden. Kubjika ist eine mächtige Entwicklung von Malini, der Hauptgöttin der Trika - Tantras und der Kali der kashmirischen Krama - Tradition. Ihr Kult gehört zu einer Kette der frühen Kaula-Systeme, die in der Göttin Tripura gipfeln und wirft so ein erhebliches Licht auf diese.
Der Abschnitt über die jungfräuliche Göttin des Tantra des wirbelnden Bhairava des Manthanabhairavatantra ist etwa 24.000 Verse lang und ist in drei Abschnitte (khanda) unterteilt.

Teilübersetzung

Der editierte und von Herrn Dyczkowski übesetzte Teil ist das Kumarikakhanda. Zusammen mit dem Kubjikamata, ist das Manthanabhairavatantra das bedeutendste und ausführlichste Tantra über die verehrung der Göttin Kubjika.

Kubjika einzigartige historische Bedeutung liegt in dem außerordentlichen Reichtum der inneren geistigen Dimensionen ihres Kultes. Diese werden im Einzelnen in der Einleitung zur Edition und Übersetzung des Textes mit umfangreichen Referenzen aus meist nicht veröffentlichten Kubjika - Tantras und denen im Zusammenhang mit Schulen untersucht.
