John Woodroffe

Sir John George Woodroffe(1865-1936), auch bekannt als Arthur Avalon, war war ein britischer Richter in Indien und Rechtsprofessor an der Universität von Kalkutta.

Sir Woodroffe hatte ein besonderes Interesse an hinduistischer Philosophie und studierte dazu Sanskrit. Er vertiefte sich mit Hilfe eines indischen Lehrers in die tantrischen Lehren und veröffentlichte eine Reihe von Büchern.
