Guru Nanak Dev (Hindi: Guru Nānak ; * 15. April Nankana Sahib bei Lahore; † 7. Mai oder 22. September 1539[1]) gilt als der Religionsstifter des Sikhismus und erster Guru der 10 Sikh-Gurus(Nanak Dev, Angad Dev, Amar Das, Ram Das, Arjan Dev, Har Gobind, Har Rai, Har Krishan, Tegh Bahadur, Gobind Singh).

Er war ein Wanderprediger, der fast ganz Indien durchquert haben und bis nach Mekka und Medina gekommen sein soll. Er lehrte die Einheit Gottes jenseits aller religiösen Anschauungen.

Ihm wird das Mul Mantar[2] zugeschrieben, dh. die ersten Verse des Adi Granth.
