Das Ōbaku-shū ist eine Zen - Schule mit Verknüpfungen zur Rinzai-Schule und die dritte noch existierende Zenschule.
Sie wurde 1654 von dem chinesischen Chan - Mönch Yǐnyuán Lóngqí (jap. Ingen Ryūki) gegründet. Dieser erhielt die Erlaubnis im von ihm errichteten Mampuku-ji - Tempel in Uji zu lehren.
Die Lehren umfassen die aus dem Amitabha - Buddhismus übernommene Praxis des Nembutsu und das Mantra und Dhāraṇī des tantrischen Buddhismus.
